Out of the 2 body kits I've got, this one is in the best condition, so will be fitted as it is. It has scratches and marks on it, but is in original condition, so will add a bit of patina to the bike. I got 2 new screens made by Skidmarx and the mounting brackets for the fairing were powder coated.

The rebuild begins. Powder coated frame with new exhaust mounting bushes, new headrace bearings, and new shocks. The deep braced box section swinging arm has been removed for now. It needs re-chromed, but I'm finding it difficult to get someone to do it, so may be powder coated at some point, but fitting it means having no centre stand.

Now it's beginning to look more like a bike.....
Wiring loom refreshed with new connections, new grips fitted, new centre stand bolts, nuts, spacers and pins, new throttle cable and brake line guides etc.......the cost is beginning to mount up

you dont mess about do you lol its coming along very nicely carnt you just have swinging arm polished
Re: Restoring my 1980 X7 Sheene Replica
The box section arm isn't alloy, it's chromed steel. It's a bit rusty and pitted and a few places have said they can't re-chrome it, but a fairly local powder coater reckons he can do a chrome lookalike powder coating on it.

Re: Restoring my 1980 X7 Sheene Replica
So, electrics checked, everything all connected, kicked it over to see if there was a spark. And there was. So got some petrol and connected up an auxiliary tank, and after about 26 years......
